Anglo-Saxon stirrup mount. Circa, 10th-11th century AD. Copper-alloy, 62mm x 35mm, 27.0g. An Anglo-Scandinavian openwork stirrup strap mount in the Urnes style. At the centre of the mount is a coiled and interlaced zoomorphic creature, s-shaped with a long neck and the head at the apex of the mount turned downwards. The body of the beast is entwined with tendrils. Ref: Williams' Type A, Class 10B (see Williams, 1997: 2-13, 53-57).
